Inferno / Hatchet PvP Build
Season 9
The synergy of this build is wild.. adding the Cowl of Power to this makes it one of the hardest hitting Hatchet builds in the game. Damage, mobility and very hard to kill, this build is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine!
Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!
Equipment / Attributes
A simple STR build for the most part with the 100 DEX giving the hatchet more base damage, plus the nice damage % modifiers for both weapons. I really liked having 200 CON on this setup but feel free to run more or less! What is important about this build is that the mana sustain is a low as possible while still staying viable!
The Inferno has empowering fireball as the final perk, you can always run something else if you want but I really like the fireball perk! An opal runeglass with the fire DOT is the way to go for the gem.
The Hatchet ideally would have Keen Berserk, Vicious, and Penetrating Backstab. I also recommend an opal runeglass with a DOT here too (you can always go for a different DOT damage type than fire as well!).
My gear is simple, Refreshing + Shirking Heals. For the third perk I have Vital Synergy, Hasted Vigor, and Shirking energy.
The Cowl of Power is the artifact that really brings this build together. The damage bonus is only active if you hit an opponent while under 50% mana, meaning this build that has very low mana sustain is PERFECT for it! Seriously this is probably the best possible setup for uptime of that huge damage boost!
The runeglass on your armor should all be fire damage since the hatchet easily hits empower cap on its own while the fire staff needs the help.
The jewelry is perfect, the ring should be fire damage NOT slash damage as again the hatchet can hit empower cap easily on its own. The secret healing tech from Endless Thirst is fantastic for keeping this build topped up on health as long as your switching between two different healing potions.
Use the best food you can find, Desert Sunrise, and Honing Stones. The two potions of choice for this build are the Regeneration and Burst Regeneration potions since they give the most healing value. Using mana potions is a must if you find yourself out of mana, but you have the option of not using the mana sustain food to keep your mana lower during combat.
Active Skills
Hatchet Skills
Raging Torrent can be cancelled with a dodge at any point, making this move perfect for fast cancel combos following a light attack. The haste on hit gives this move great defensive utility too.
Social Distance Throw is great for getting out of trouble, but the immobilize is also very useful for chasing someone down!
Berserk is the skill that makes hatchet hit HARD. Not only does it give a massive damage boost, but it makes you immune to various CC effects, gives you haste on demand, and some life stealing as well.
Fire Staff Skills
Fire ball is that big burst move for fire staff. The AOE blast makes it perfect for hitting targets easily while also applying a DOT.
Incinerate is a personal favorite of mine, the GIRT it gives plus the stagger lets you trade with tons of moves and come out on top. The AOE lingers for a moment as well giving this move a deceptive delay that opponents rush into early.
Burnout not only is fantastic as a gap closer, but it can do some serious damage itself.
Since this is a STR based fire staff build the DOTs are very weak, so having Backdraft as a passive is a MUST to turn those weak DOTs into big burst!
