Abyss PvP Build - Great Axe / Ice Gauntlet

Season 3

Brutal Ice Gauntlet lock down mixed with the devastating burst from great Axe. This build has it all. Great survivability, excellent movement / battlefield control, and damage that can quickly drop someone from full health.

The combo for this guy is simple, catch people in your ice traps and punish hard with Great Axe. I love how this build can force people to eat your Execute, making it a very deadly close ranged fighter!

you can play this guy in any armor weight you want too!

Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!

I recommend going for at least 150 CON on this setup since ice gauntlet is a rather close range weapon so you will be doing lots of melee fighting. 25 FOC is recommended but you can drop this if you want! The rest is stacked in INT for that big boy damage.

Equipment

For The Abyss I would pick Mending Execute as the final perk, since you will be able to pull 5-6k heals from it on a big hit! Crippling Reap is also a great choice, or a damage perk of choice like Trenchant Strikes!

For the Ice Gauntlet I would love to have Unending Thaw or even Healing tomb on it, with a Shirking or Attunement perk. The final perk is up to you! enchanted is a decent idea to buff that light and heavy attack!

Ideally the armor would be Either Aversion Perk / Thrust Conditioning / Shirking Heals. Shirking Heals is the way to go this patch, offering a ton of healing power as long as your dodging well. You definitely want Shirking Energy on the legs and I highly recommend trying to fit in 4x Refreshing on either your armor or jewelry!

I also recommend fitting in Crippling Reap and Deadly Frost if you can!

The Ankh would be a great option to boost your healing, but it did get nerfed very recently! My ideal amulet would be Healthy / Thrust or Fire Resistance / Stamina Recovery. The ring is a bit under leveled but has great perks (possibly add lifestealing). My ideal earing would have Regenerating instead of Refreshing Toast or Nimble!

As always use the best food you can find, honing stones, and health / mana / regeneration / OP new super potions introduced in the expansion!

Active Skills

Great Axe

Reap - 4/4 Upgrades

This skill has excellent range and deals a massive 195% weapon damage when both hits land. You can also use this to pull people into your ice traps!

If you run the Crippling Reap perk you can give this skill even more utility with the snare.

Execute - 3/3 Upgrades

A massive amount of damage that can finish off most people below 50% health, and it heals you with the mending perk.

Thanks to the lockdown that ice gantlet has you can drain peoples stamina to ensure this skill lands more often!

Charge - 3/3 Upgrades

A fast long distance gap closer with grit. This is the perfect skill for attacking or escaping from a bad spot, and it can hit pretty dam hard too!

Ice Gauntlet

Ice Shower - 4/4 Upgrades

The hard snare and immobilize from Ice Shower is perfect for setting up your Great Axe combos.

Ice shower is also great for stopping people from pursuing you and with the armor perk it can deal damage too!

Ice Storm - 4/4 Upgrades

A large AOE that works well for preventing people from getting to you. Since you can cast this at a distance it works well as a long distance snare too!

Mixed with the speed from Great Axe it gives this build amazing chase potential, not to mention it does some pretty good damage too!

Entombed - 3/3 Upgrades

Not only is this skill a great save if your about to take a bunch of damage or need to stall for more stamina, but the condition purge it gives is a massive deal in todays heavy DOT meta!

If you have the armor perk this skill can heal you too!
