Blunderbuss / Rapier PvP Build

Season 1

The best Blunderbuss and Rapier build you can get your hands on! This build has great mobility and firepower, and one of the weirdest Attribute spreads that actually works! I found this build to do well as a fast solo spec that can get in and out of the action quickly, the pairing of Rapier and Blunder have a smooth feel with lots of burst damage!

Hope you guys enjoy this hybrid build!

Ok, at first glance this looks like a confused players attributes who doesn’t quite understand what weapons scale from what.. so lets talk about it.

50 STR is great not only for that base blunder damage, but the jump point gives a 10% damage bonus to your Rapier light and heavy attack (most of Rapier’s damage output).

150 DEX gives great Rapier base damage, while also providing that all important stamina cost reduction to your roll. This is HUGE for survival in PvP, not to mention the 5% thrust damage helps Blunder a bit too!

The rest of your offensive points go into INT, giving both weapons a decent amount of damage scaling, but more importantly it gives that 15% elemental damage bonus jump point. This is huge because both weapons are fitted with Lightning gems!

As always 150 CON helps immensely in PvP thanks to that Critical Damage reduction, so as a Light Armor fighter you will want to get 150 CON to help you survive incoming burst damage.

Strength

  • 50: +10% damage to melee physical basic attacks. +10% mining speed

Dexterity

  • 50: +10% chance to critical hit. +10% skinning speed.

  • 100: +5% thrust damage. +20% haste for 3s after skinning.

  • 150: Dodges cost 10 less stamina. -10% decrease in weight of skinned items.

Intelligence

  • 50: +10% critical hit damage. +10% harvest speed.

  • 100: +5% damage to light and heavy magic attacks. 5% chance for 1 Azoth when harvesting.

  • 150: +15% to elemental damage. -10% decrease in weight of harvested items.

Constitution

  • 50: All health consumables 20% stronger. +10% logging speed.

  • 100: Increase max health by 10% of your physical armor. -10% reduction on durability loss for tools.

  • 150: -10% to critical damage taken. -10% decrease in weight of logging items.

Equipment

The ideal Rapier for this build would be Rogue, Lightning Attunement, Keenly Jagged. Not only would this Rapier be great for damage dealing, but all the extra DOTs from its attacks play a huge roll in your stamina sustain thanks to the Controlled Breathing Rapier passive.

The Blunderbuss should be Enchanted, Keen Seed or Keenly Empowered, Lightning Attunement. I quite like the bonus speed as you will almost always land at least one critical pellet with your shots, but Keenly empowered would give you even more big boy damage.

Both weapons are fitted with Augmented Electrified gems, making 40% of your damage Lightning Damage while all attacks apply that Lightning DOT. This build has a huge focus on Lightning damage as people do not build against this damage type at all in PvP.

This patch the BIS armor perks for PvP would be Elemental Aversion, Resilient, Freedom. You definitely DONT want to run shirking fortification in light armor this patch if you can help it! As always I like to have Shirking energy on my legs for the stamina sustain.

All the armor pieces are also fitted with Electrified gems, giving a whopping 10% bonus Lightning damage on total!

Health, Stamina Recovery and Shirking Empower are basically the best necklace perks for a damage build. For the ring we have Hearty, Keen Awareness, Lightning Damage. This gives us a total of 15% Lightning damage with the armor gems! This ring is also super easy to farm in Brimstone Sands. Finally for the Earing, Healthy Toast and Refreshing Toast are must haves in PvP. I would also love Regenerating as the 3rd perk.

The Cannon Blast Heartrune is not a bad choice, but I think Vines would be the way to go with this build as it would make landing that deadly Blunder combo much easier!

Since Elemental Aversion will reduce most elemental damage attacks that players use, this build focuses on reducing Thrust damage. Thrust Damage is the most common damage type in PvP, especially because of those bows!!

You will need food to reach the jump points that this build requires, and don’t be shy to use a honing stone too! Remember to use both Health, Mana, and Regeneration Potions in PvP! Both the Oakflesh Balm and Gemstone Dust are great consumables to have slotted incase you need a bunch of extra resists.

Active Skills

Rapier

Flourish And Finish - 3/5 Upgrades

Access to grit, a very fast AOE stagger, and a powerful follow up attack all in one. This skill is excellent for closing out a kill on an opponent while also offering a ton of defensive utility. I only take the first 3 upgrades here due to not running any of the rapier bleeds on this setup.

Evade - 5/5 Upgrades

Evade is arguably the Rapier’s best skill. It not only allows you to have a brief moment of invulnerability, but makes you more mobile, can be used to attack, and can cancel any ability or action! This is a very unique effect and gives the Rapier a high skill ceiling for PvP combat. Omnidirectional Evade can make this skill stack even more damage on your next attack too!

Fleche - 4/4 Upgrades

This is not only an amazing gap-closer for attacking and getting away, but it is also a quick way for you to get behind an opponent and hit them with a strong backstab. This is also a very fast skill to cast and does quite a bit of damage on the initial hit too!

Blunderbuss

Net Shot - 4/4 Upgrades

A brutal long distance snare that deals damage over time. This skill is great for hunting down someone trying to escape, or slowing down a pursuer. The move knocks you back a fair distance as well, making it a great escape from a bad spot!

Azoth Shrapnel Blast - 5/5 Upgrades

This skill is your go to damage skill, dealing a huge amount of damage followed by the grenade blast after. You can cancel a light attack with this ability too allowing you to stack the damage together!

Splitting Grenade - 4/4 Upgrades

This skill has a super long cooldown, but can deal quite a lot of AOE damage when it lands. Honestly, I use this skill mostly because of the very fast double light attack cancel you can do with it. The full burst combo for this build would be Light Attack > Splitting Grenade > Light Attack, Azoth Shrapnel Blast. This combo can even one shot a Light armor squishy if you catch them with the whole thing!
