Abyss / Rapier PvP Build
Season 8
Holy **** is this build good in season 8. Almost everything this build does will heal you, the mobility is amazing, and as always it hits HARD. This build also showcases some of the new hidden healing tech that EVERY BUILD can use!
Check out a video guide with gameplay for this build!
Equipment / Attributes
Being an Abyss build we have to go for 350 INT. I always like to have 100 DEX when running an INT based rapier build so the rapier can hit hard too! 50 FOC is a MUST since almost everything this build does will heal you. If you want to run more CON you can always take 50 points out of DEX.
For the Abyss I really like Mending Execute, especially since this build has so much lifesteal and healing power bonuses. You can however go for Crippling Reap or a perk of your choice here.
The Rapier is god tier. The Narwhal Tusk is easily acquirable from the doubloon fountain, and with the Sundering Stacks perk is the best rapier you can access without crafting a 725 yourself. In a perfect world, I would switch out Penetrating The Empowered for Penetrating Backstab, but honestly this is only a couple % better. Plagued Crits is also a great perk to have here.
The armor perks are perfect with the one vigor perk I have acting as a flex spot. Vigor is a great perk this patch but Crippling Reap would be a great addition here. Since this build can reach empower cap from the jewelry, I decided to run Energizing Runeglass for that big stam sustain!
Vampires Vestments are super important since they not only give a big amount of lifesteal, but they also cause your attacks to drain mana. This means Abyss can be used at full power even though we don’t have a magic weapon equipped! Vital Synergy is another new perk that gives a massive 20% additional healing when below 50% stamina, this is a MUST HAVE for a build like this!
The jewelry is perfect, giving a whopping 31% empower in total! Now for that hidden healing tech.. using a survival potion this patch puts all other survival potions on an 80% cooldown, and this cooldown is independent of perks like Refreshing Toast. This also applies to Endless Thirst’s special perk, meaning that as long as your cycling between two different potions you will have the crazy strong +33% potion healing with an 80% cooldown and no additional penalty! Check the footage and watch the potion cooldowns to see this in action.
Use the best food you can find, Desert Sunrise, and Honing Stones. The two potions of choice for this build are the Regeneration and Burst Regeneration potions since they give the most healing value. You can use normal healing potions if you want as they can heal up to 10k Health with this setup!
Active Skills
Great Axe Skills
Good ol Execute can deal massive damage when a targets health begins to drop. With the Mending Execute perk it can also heal a stupid amount of health when it hits, giving this skill good offensive and defensive utility.
Reap is another skill that has quite a bit of life steal baked into it, but I personally love it for the crazy reach it has. Adding Crippling Reap would be amazing since it can help you land those executes!
Charge is a super long distance gap closer that gives you GRIT while your charging. This is perfect for attacking and defending, with the one downside being that you cannot pass through targets with this.
Rapier Skills
The Leaching Flurry perk is a MUST HAVE if your using Flurry in PvP. This skill allows you to trade with anything thanks to the invulnerability it provides, and with all the life steal this build has it can give you back a ton of health!
Omnidirectional Evade is a great perk to give you the most out of Evade, while the skill itself is the bread and butter of Rapier. It has a crazy high skill ceiling and can be used in all kinds of offensive and defensive plays.
Fleche can deal crazy damage when you connect both hits, and it’s also a gap closer that can pass through targets making it fantastic for escaping a body block.
